Over the past few weeks, we have had the pleasure of introducing the newest members of the NLCS Kobe teaching team through our social media channels. As they prepare to join us for the new academic year, we are delighted to officially welcome them to our school community.

As families prepare for the start of a new academic year, one of the first milestones is making sure students are ready for the year ahead.

At NLCS Kobe, learning does not only happen inside the classroom. Each lunchtime, students step outside and head to our nearby playing field, where they have space to run, play, explore and enjoy time together in the fresh air.

As our inaugural academic year drew to a close, the NLCS Awards brought together students, staff and families to celebrate a year of learning, growth and achievement across our school community.

NLCS Kobe recently held its annual “Final Tea Ceremony” at the Tekisui Museum, an event attended by students across all year groups. It was a profoundly special occasion where students took turns whisking and serving matcha for one another, fully immersing themselves in Japanese traditional culture. The tea room was graced with beautiful nerikiri (wagashi sweets) shaped like hydrangeas, designed entirely by our Grade 6 students. Just as each small petal has its own unique color and shape yet comes together to create a magnificent flower, these sweets perfectly symbolized the vibrant diversity and unity of our NLCS Kobe student body.

As NLCS Kobe’s first academic year drew to a close, families were welcomed into school for our Celebration of Learning – a special occasion dedicated to recognising and celebrating each student’s learning journey.

Laughter, excitement and proud smiles filled the room as students from Pre-Grade 1 to Grade 3 took to the stage for this year’s School Drama Performance. Over the course of the term, students worked hard to prepare for the production, learning songs, memorising lines and rehearsing movements as they brought their characters and stories to life. For many of our youngest performers, including members of our founding Pre-Grade 1 class who joined NLCS Kobe at the start of Term 3, this was their very first experience performing in front of an audience.

As NLCS Kobe prepares to welcome new members of staff this August, several teachers recently travelled to NLCS (UK) to participate in the annual NLCS International Teacher Training Conference.

In May, amidst the vibrant fresh greenery, NLCS Kobe hosted a special, hands-on workshop featuring world-renowned architect Michele De Lucchi (AMDL CIRCLE).
