As our inaugural academic year drew to a close, the NLCS Awards brought together students, staff and families to celebrate a year of learning, growth and achievement across our school community.

The ceremony recognised students who had demonstrated excellence in a wide range of areas throughout the year. From academic achievement to commitment, resilience, leadership and contribution to school life, the awards reflected the many different ways students can flourish at NLCS Kobe.

The event also celebrated the collective spirit of our House system. The annual House Competition results were announced, with Tateyama House finishing the year as overall champions. The announcement was met with enthusiastic cheers from students across the school, highlighting the strong sense of teamwork, belonging and House pride that has developed during our first year.

A particularly meaningful moment came as our Grade 5 students marked the completion of the Junior School.

To recognise this important milestone, each student was presented with a certificate and an NLCS tie, symbolising their transition to Senior School from the new academic year. The presentation celebrated not only the completion of one stage of learning, but also the beginning of the next.

The ceremony concluded with a moving performance of A Million Dreams by the entire Grade 5 cohort, accompanied on guitar by their class teacher, Mr Chamberlain. The performance reflected both the friendships and experiences they have built throughout Junior School and the excitement of beginning the next chapter of their educational journey.

At NLCS Kobe, milestones such as these are about far more than recognising achievement. They provide opportunities for students to reflect on their growth, celebrate one another’s successes and approach the future with confidence.

As we look ahead to our second academic year, we congratulate every award recipient, every House member and every Grade 5 student as they continue their journey of learning.
