NLCS Kobe Entrance Assessments

The Admissions Team at NLCS Kobe uses a range of age-appropriate assessments to understand each child’s academic potential, readiness for school, and ability to access the curriculum.

Assessments may include:

  • Cognitive Ability Test (CAT4): Measures academic potential through verbal, numerical, non-verbal, and spatial reasoning skills. The test does not require children to be fluent in English.
  • Maths Assessments (NGMT or PTM): Measure mathematical knowledge, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • English Assessments (NGRT or PTE): Measure reading, comprehension, spelling, grammar, and language skills appropriate to the child’s age.
  • Interview: A short meeting with the Principal or a member of the Senior Leadership Team to learn more about each child.

The purpose of the assessments is to get to know each child, understand their strengths, and provide a positive and comfortable experience.
