Our History
North London Collegiate School UK (NLCS) is the oldest academic girl’s school in the United Kingdom, founded in 1850 by victorian pioneer of women’s education, Frances Mary Buss. The school has provided an outstanding education for its pupils for over 170 years. Rich in heritage and tradition, the school prides itself on its leavers being articulate, confident and independent thinkers who have been well equipped with the knowledge and skills to enable them to make the most of all opportunities that life will offer.
UK league tables rank NLCS (UK) as one of the leading schools for public examinations results, including one of the top IB Diploma schools in the world, having achieved an average of 40 points (out of a possible 45 points) per student consistently for the past twelve years.
Like NLCS (UK), NLCS Kobe will offer a broad and balanced range of subjects giving our students a strong foundation to shape their own academic development. Lessons will be rigorous and challenging whilst inspiring each student to enjoy learning and excel in their studies.
NLCS Kobe will retain a deep connection to NLCS (UK), and an unremitting commitment to replicating the NLCS quality and ethos. Following on from our founding school, NLCS has a total of 5 international schools (including NLCS Kobe) across Asia and the Middle East. This includes NLCS Jeju located on Jeju Island, South Korea which was founded in 2011, NLCS Dubai in the UAE, founded in 2017 and NLCS (Singapore) founded in 2020.
